The Philanthropy Manager is a new role created in response to Recovery Café Longmont’s rapid growth and expanding fundraising needs. This position is responsible for guiding donor engagement, stewardship, and individual giving strategies while managing donor data and fundraising systems.
Working closely with the Director of Philanthropy, Communications Manager, and Executive Director, the Philanthropy Manager will help establish strong fundraising infrastructure, formalize stewardship practices, and support both general operating fundraising and the Café’s capital campaign. This role offers significant opportunity for growth as the organization enters its next chapter.
Primary Responsibilities
I. Donor Engagement & Stewardship
Expected outcome: Strong donor relationships that drive retention, growth, and long-term sustainability.
- Lead donor stewardship and engagement strategies to improve retention, deepen relationships, and grow recurring giving
- Manage donor acknowledgment processes to ensure timely, meaningful thanks, including coordinating board member thank-you calls
- Develop and manage communication strategies for new, lapsed, and existing donors
- Identify, manage, and steward relationships with individual donors
- Collaborate on donor communications including appeal letters, targeted campaigns, and impact storytelling
- Analyze donor trends and data to inform cultivation strategies and fundraising decisions
- Stay current on fundraising best practices and emerging trends
II. Individual Giving & Campaign Management
Expected outcome: Clear strategies and systems that support consistent individual
giving growth.
- Develop and own annual individual giving and small-dollar fundraising strategies, including goals, targets, and timelines
- Plan and execute major fundraising campaigns (e.g., end-of-year, seasonal appeals, sustainer drives) in collaboration with the Director of Philanthropy
- Manage donor pipelines, prospect research, and segmentation for individual and institutional funders
- Identify and implement improvements to fundraising tools and systems to support organizational growth and sustainability
III. Data Management & Reporting
Expected outcome: Accurate, accessible data that supports strong decision-making and accountability.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of gifts and delivery of tax acknowledgements
- Maintain donor and prospect records in the donor CRM and external mailing lists
- Establish systems that ensure donor communications and transactions are well-documented and easily accessible
- Produce regular fundraising and financial reports to assess performance and inform strategy
- Document donor correspondence and interactions (phone, email, direct mail) in the CRM
IV. Committee & Event Support
Expected outcome: Well-supported volunteers and events that strengthen donor engagement.
- Support Philanthropy and Capital Campaign Committees by scheduling meetings, developing agendas, and tracking follow-up items
- Attend committee meetings and support members in completing action items
- Collaborate with the Communications Manager on donor cultivation, volunteer appreciation, and fundraising events
- Help develop event strategies and manage post-event follow-up as part of the overall stewardship program
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Two to five years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or a related role
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong project management skills.
- Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining high quality and attention to detail
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning fundraising software
- Community-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Attributes
- Experience managing donor databases or CRMs
- Comfort working in a growing organization with evolving systems

- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging, with the ability to apply an equity-centered lens to fundraising, donor engagement, and stewardship practices
- Experience working in or alongside communities impacted by substance use disorder, mental health challenges, trauma, poverty, or other systemic inequities
- Comfort building authentic relationships across differences, including with donors, volunteers, staff, board members, and community partners from diverse backgrounds
Compensation & Benefits
This is a part-time, salaried position with a starting commitment of 25 hours per week and flexibility for some remote work. The position has potential to grow as organizational needs evolve. Salary is $45,000 – $50,000 annually. Although the position does not include benefits, the position is eligible for holiday and paid time off.

This part-time role combines in-person and remote work to total 25 hours per week. Regular on-site presence during Café operating days is required, though not daily. Additional remote flexibility may be available by arrangement based on role responsibilities and organizational needs.
