Recovery Café is about SO much more than good coffee and warm meals. We believe that community is built during meals around the table, discussions in our Recovery Circles, and in our School for Recovery featuring classes that address the underlying causes of addiction, teach coping skills, develop knowledge and new skills, and build recovery capital. Examples of offerings include: Addiction Recovery, Grief and Loss, Art, Music, Letting Go, Building Healthy Relationships, Yoga, and Creative Writing. Classes are taught by volunteers and open to Members and volunteers.
Monday, 1 p.m.: Empower-mental, a class focused on re-training the mind towards positivity and empowerment, and away from fear and shame.
Monday, 2 p.m.: Art Therapy, where Members and volunteers can create vision boards, mandalas, dream catchers, and other crafts.
Tuesday, 1 p.m.: Making Friends With Technology teaches computer operations and programming, hardware and software training, and apps to improve your life.
Wednesday, 4:15 p.m.: 12-Step Yoga, 12-steps infused with yoga to encourage mind-body integration.
1st Tuesday, 2 p.m.: Recover, Rebrand, a social media class that focuses on using social media in recovery. When people change their lifestyles, some friends and interests that are not beneficial to their changes remain on their timelines, and the themes of their new posts may not match what they’ve posted. This an insightful class on how to navigate the tiny world on our screens where we spend so much of our time.
1st & 3rd Wednesdays, 1 p.m.: Contemplative Crochet. This is a great class for people who want to learn the basics of crochet, practice mindfulness, or simply just need something to do with their hands.
Instructors: Anne and Karen
In the future we looking forward to offering special event workshops that will be open to the general public.
